Autumn is my absolute favourite season – I love the tricolours of leaves and crunchy forest walks, feeling the crisp air on my cheeks.
I equally love that it’s finally acceptable to put on my favourite cosy jumper, make a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate, wrap up in a blanket and sit embroidering or reading on the sofa!
But I also love the creativity I feel at this time of year.
Autumnal colours and designs are my fave – queue the pumpkins, toadstools and rusty orange vibes!!
This month’s pattern for the Bloom Embroidery Academy was no exception. Here’s a little peek at Toadstool House that just dropped in the Academy!
I had sooooo much fun with this one. It is a perfect way for my members to practice their long and short stitch, and I think it created such lovely texture on the house itself.
So, that’s exactly where we started! The house took quite a while because it’s quite a time-consuming stitch, but it turned out super cute, don’t you think?!
I don’t know what it is about the fishbone stitch, but I find it super relaxing. I think because it’s a stitch I do so often, it just feels so therapeutic because I don’t have to think about it all that much!
With the tricolour leaves that happen at this time of year, I wanted to emulate that in this design. So, we had green, orange and pink (yes, pink!) leaves. Hey, it’s art, I can make them whatever colours I like!
Last up was the toadstools. Eeek, I love stitching toadstools! I went for red and pink toadstools, just to bring in some of the colour from the leaves. We practiced a bit more of the long and short stitch here, but I know Satin Stitch would work here too!
And there we have it, the super cute Toadstool House that we alllll wish we could live in! (No? Just me? Hehe)
